What this site’s code does

The supplied journal code does not set HTTP cookies or run analytics, advertising pixels or fingerprinting scripts. Fonts, styles, scripts and image files are served as site assets rather than embedded third-party widgets. Following an external link takes you to a separate service with its own policies.

The mobile menu, question disclosures and scroll reveals use temporary page state. The letter tool holds its current draft in the page while you use it; it does not intentionally store that draft in cookies or localStorage. Your browser may separately retain form entries under its own settings.

One optional local preference

The controls below can save a browser choice under the localStorage key cloudyorchardbanter-browser-choice. Its value is either remember or essential. This is a preference record, not a unique visitor identifier, and neither choice activates analytics or other optional services.

localStorage stays on this browser and origin until you clear it or the browser removes it. It is not automatically sent to the server with page requests. The site reads the value to display your current choice here. The journal works if storage is blocked.

Your browser choice

Both options keep the journal free of analytics. Choose whether to record a preference on this browser, or remove the existing record.

Managing your browser

You can block or delete cookies and site storage in your browser’s privacy settings. Deleting site storage removes any saved preference here. It does not delete a file you downloaded, an email you sent or text retained in your system clipboard. Manage those separately on your device.

Hosting and future changes

Hosting infrastructure may process ordinary request and security data to deliver the website; this is distinct from the local storage described here. If optional technologies are introduced, their purpose, providers and duration should be explained before they are enabled, and consent obtained where required. A remembered preference is not blanket permission for future tracking.
